Lost & Found

I recently was blessed to see my 32nd birthday and it was amazing. I was first gifted a new pair of shoes by my amazing wife and then when I arrived at work the next day my office was decorated with enough decor to make a grown man cry (I didn’t but if I did I would never admit it lol).

I received a personalized gift basket with all kinds of cool stuff, and we closed the office early and I was treated to dinner at the Three double o nine restaurant in Schertz (amazing, try it if you haven’t already).

I arrived home and was showered with love from my family and we explored all the contents of my gift basket. After a long day I went to my room to unwind and I suddenly noticed that my name tag was missing. I know everyone here knows what a name tag is but in case you don’t, let me explain. I have a magnetic tag that bears my name along with the name of the company I represent. It is unique because it's shaped like a bow tie and it costs something to get it, so it carries value.

The tag has so much value that even after all the gifts and affection I received I felt it necessary to search for it. I retraced my steps, I thought about where it could have been lost and what could have caused me to lose it. I was distraught to say the least but at the end of the day I thought “I can always just get another” I stopped for a moment and I thought of you, yes you, the person reading this blog. You see just like my name badge you’re unique and there is no one like you on the earth. Even if you’re a twin or triplet you are still distinguishable by your fingerprints. You may see yourself as being weird all your life but I challenge you today to reframe your self perception and understand that you were purposely created to be unique, to stand out.

Also like my name badge you are so valuable that you’re worth pursuing. In fact, the word of God tells us that God compares his pursuit of us (especially sinners) to a woman who lost one of her 10 silver coins. Luke 15:8-10 tells us that this woman lit a lamp which tells me that she might have been looking until the evening when it got dark.  She sweeps her house and she search carefully (sound familiar - my badge, her

coin). Let me use an example you can better understand. Have you ever lost your keys before work or your cell phone before leaving to go out? You remember the sense of urgency with which you searched? That’s the urgency that this woman used to search for that coin and the urgency God has towards us wishing that none would perish.

The main difference between yourself and my name badge besides the fact that you are way more valuable and important, is that you are not replaceable. This is for someone reading this who may be right between where you used to be (God brought you out) and where God has said He is taking you (your Destiny), and you don’t see how God is going to work it out. You wonder sometimes if you were to leave this world if anyone would really care or if others would actually be better off with you gone. Let me tell you that is a lie straight from the pits of Hell. Your absence impacts the world around you.

The reason the grave is one of the richest places in the world is because the enemy has convinced so many to abort the gifts and dreams that were meant to be birthed out of them with the lie that their existence doesn’t matter. This will not be your testimony. If you’re reading this it’s because God wants you to know that He loves YOU deeply. Let that soak in... The God of this universe loves YOU. Even if you’ve turned your back on God and engaged in every sin under the sun, God still loves you and He is pursuing you. The Gospel aka The Good News is that even when we were yet still sinners Christ died for us. He thought you valuable enough to die for. He is not shocked by your tendencies; He’s not caught off guard when you mess up and He wants to restore the glory to your life if you’re willing to receive His love today.  Let it not be said that you had a real moment with Christ just now and you didn’t heed to the gentle knocking on the door of your heart. Let 2020 be your year to surrender to the call of God. If you want to know Jesus as you Lord and Savior pray this prayer with me:

Lord Jesus, for too long I’ve kept you out of my life. I know that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. No longer will I close the door when I hear you knocking. By faith I gratefully receive your gift of salvation. I am ready to trust you as my Lord and Savior.  Thank you, Lord Jesus, for coming to earth. I believe you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sins and rose from the dead on the third day.  Thank you for bearing my sins and giving me the gift of eternal life. I believe your words are true. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, and be my Savior. Amen

Next Steps:

- Invest in a good study bible

- Join a good bible-based church

- Be baptized

- Fellowship with other believers

Let’s not go another year ignoring the call. Until next time family, Shalom.

Food for Thought and Self Reflection

Our Faith functions well when we know God is good.

Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

God is a good God!  Psalm 34:8

taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good; How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him.
